Women’s Artistic Gymnastics:
Canada has two primary programs for competition, the Canadian Competitive program and the Canadian High Performance program with a developmental program (Aspire) that helps talented young athletes master strong basic skills on all four events to prepare them potentially to move into the High Performance or higher level gymnastics. To complement our programs, Gymnastics Canada also organizes National camps which focus on the identification of talent and the development of the athletes and coaches striving towards high performance gymnastics.
Canadian Competitive Program (CCP)
The Canadian Competitive Program was developed with the belief that all athletes, regardless of their potential, must have a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance safely. The program allows the gymnast to advance at her own pace, competing in more than one level in a year, if she so chooses.
Canadian High Performance Program
The Canadian High Performance Program (HP) is the preferred pathway for athletes aspiring towards National Team. It is the pathway that will lead a gymnast towards the pursuit of excellence and achievement of medals at the highest international level.
Men’s Artistic Gymnastics:
Provincial Pathway Program
The Provincial Pathway has been developed to provide a competitive stream for athletes of all levels, but who may not be striving toward the Elite level. The early levels feature compulsory routines that are similar in structure to the Elite Pathway routines with some simplifications.
